Cameroon international goalkeeper Andre Onana is optimistic of being available for Manchester United’s Premier League opener against rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford, on Sunday, August 17.
Onana travelled to the United States with the rest of the squad but worked on his fitness as he bids to return from injury. Despite travelling, he was not available for the Premier League Summer Series, with Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton keeping goal.
Bayindir played against West Ham United and Everton, while Heaton started the 4-1 victory over Bournemouth.
“l’m good, I feel great,” the Cameroon international revealed to the American broadcasters NBC Sports in Atlanta as quoted by Man United’s official website. “It’s been a few difficult weeks but yeah, hopefully, I will be back for the start of the season. I’m enjoying the training with my guys and we are looking forward to it.”
On what he thinks is different in Man United camp, he said: “I think togetherness. We are together. We know that last season was tough for us and must make sure this doesn’t happen again. We know the way. We work hard, we enjoy training together. We have fun and that is key. When we are together, we are going to be hard to beat.
“We’re happy with the way things are going. We play well, score goals and I’m happy how the team is developing themselves. Let’s see. I think it’s going to be important to have a good start against Arsenal and then everything is possible.”
