Goalkeeper Andre Onana has been ruled out of Manchester United’s friendly against Hong Kong in China on Friday. The Premier League team has confirmed that the Cameroonian will miss the game.
He has flown to India for a community engagement assignment alongside defenders Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire. Coach Ruben Amorim said the trip to India was important for the trio to engage the communities and impart football knowledge. "We have three players who have gone to India to give something to the fans around the world,” he told United’s website.
The United stars have flown to India courtesy of United We Play, a football grassroots programme which the Red Devils support alongside Apollo Tyre. The fifth edition of the programme starts on Thursday.
Onana and company will interact with fans and young footballers to encourage them to pursue a professional football career. The three players featured for United on Wednesday when they lost to ASEAN All-Stars 1-0 in a match, marking the start of the club’s tour of Asia.
