AFCON: Raphael Onyedika awarded MOTM on tournament debut for Nigeria

​Nigeria national team midfielder Raphael Onyedika was named Man of the Match following the Super Eagles’ dominant 3-1 victory over Uganda at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the Complexe Sportif de Fez in Morocco on Tuesday.

​Onyedika, making his first Africa Cup of Nations appearance during his team’s final Group C encounter, put up an impressive display in midfield, scoring a brace for the Super Eagles.

​The 24-year-old scored the second goal of the game in the 63rd minute before adding a third for Eric Chelle’s side four minutes later. Onyedika remained in action for the entire match.

​He has now netted three times in 19 appearances for the three-time African champions. The Super Eagles will face the third place finishers from Group F in the Round of 16 on January 5 in Fez, which appears likely to be Mozambique once Group F is settled on Wednesday.
