Orbit College FC coach Pogiso Makhoye has warned opponents that it would be difficult for them to score against his team in South Africa’s top-flight league this season.
The coach made the declaration on Tuesday after his rookies registered their first win since earning promotion to the Betway Premiership, easing to a 1-0 win over Siwelele FC.
Makhoye hailed his boys for sticking to the game-plan and providing answers to tactical questions Siwelele posed.
“I am happy for the boys,” the coach told SuperSport Television.
“Today, they stuck to the plan. We defended together as a team. We had great moments especially in the first half and we could have scored.
“We had this never-say-die attitude where we knew we would get one and we did get one. It would be very difficult for teams to score against us.”
He further explained the tactical question Siwelele failed to answer correctly during Tuesday’s Betway Premiership match.
Makhoye said he set up the team to manage the weaknesses of Siwelele.
“We said ‘let Siwelele have the ball and we see how they respond to what they were doing to Arrows’. They failed to respond to that and that is how we got the goal,” the coach added.
The rookies collected their first maximum points in South Africa’s top-flight league, courtesy of Letsie Koapeng’s lone strike. The coach described the result as timely.
He said: “We needed to put at least a point on the scoreboard and now we did it and what a way to do it, especially at home even if it is away from home.”
It was a perfect response for the newcomers who had started life in the Betway Premiership with a 1-0 loss to AmaZulu last weekend.
Makhoye saluted his Siwelele counterpart Lehloholono Seema describing him as good tactically.
Orbit made their debut in the Betway Premiership with a 1-0 loss to AmaZulu before bouncing back to beat Siwelele.
