Orlando Pirates have signalled serious intent for the upcoming season, announcing the high-profile signing of Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City FC.

The 23-year-old's arrival marks the ninth official addition to the Buccaneers' squad as they aim to clinch the Betway Premiership title for the first time since the 2011/12 season.

Appollis is a big coup for Pirates, who reportedly beat out fierce competition from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs to secure his services.

The exciting winger's impressive form for Polokwane City, where he scored nine goals and provided six assists in 59 appearances since joining in July 2023, also earned him a spot in Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana squad.

He joins alist of new signings, including Sipho Mbule, Tshepang Moremi, Yanela Mbuthuma, Sihle Nduli, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Masindi Nemtajela, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, and Tshepo Mashiloane.

Beyond the league, the Sea Robbers are set to compete across multiple fronts, including the CAF Champions League, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, and Carling Knockout.

"Orlando Pirates is pleased to welcome Oswin Appollis," said Pirates in a brief statement on their official social media platforms.

Appollis will be a key part of Pirates' pre-season preparations, which officially kicked off on June 27.

The Buccaneers are set to embark on their third consecutive international pre-season tour to Marbella, Spain.

This training camp, running from July 8 to July 20, will see the team engage in high-level friendly matches against a range of European opponents, including England's Bolton Wanderers, Cyprus' Pafos FC, and Spanish clubs Las Palmas and Granada.
