Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi says he hopes fatigue will not decide Saturday’s Betway Premiership match against sworn Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Ncikazi said this in a post-match interview ahead of the Soweto derby, which he described as the biggest game on the calendar of South African football and the continent.

“We have prepared well. We want to perform as usual. We want to win the game,” he said.

The right-hand man for coach Jose Riveiro then observed that derbies are not decided by current form or history but by fine margins.

“It is not easy to win these matches. These matches are not decided by history but one can highlight that we have played 27 games and the opponent has played 17 games,” he added.

“I just hope it doesn't become a factor in the result. Our side has done a good job in recovery and data analysis. Hopefully, we will perform and get a result.”

Pirates sit in second place, five points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with two games in hand whereas Chiefs occupy fifth position, two points behind their title rivals.
