What Orlando Pirates coach Ouaddou told Seema

Orlando Pirates FC coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has disclosed what he told his Siwelele FC’s counterpart Lehlohonolo Seema after Saturday’s Carling Knockout round-of-16 match at FNB Stadium.

The Buccaneers won the game 1-0 courtesy of Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s wonder goal in the 87th minute to torch celebrations among the hosts’ fans. It was the second consecutive loss for Seema’s team to Pirates this season with the other result being from a Betway Premiership match.

Despite overcoming the opponents, Ouaddou reserved a word of praise for the gallant effort of the visitors.

“This team will not go down. I said this to the coach before the game. They are very good, very compact with a lot of character and I am sure they will bother a lot of teams,” the Moroccan told SuperSport Television.

Seema seemed to agree with Ouaddou, saying his side is still work in progress as they are only “five months old in the PSL.”

For the visitors, who emerged from the ashes of what used to be called SuperSport United, this was yet another setback. Siwelele were formed earlier this year after they bought the Premier Soccer League status of SuperSport United.

The team is based in Free State province, home of the now defunct Bloemfontein Celtic whose nickname was Siwele. The club adopted Celtic’s traditional green and white colours and its fans who are well known in South African football circles for their endless passion.
