Orlando Pirates midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula has admitted that they are not concerned with the way they win their Betway Premeirship matches, as long as they grind out wins and stay on course to lift the trophy.
The Buccaneers registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Polokwane City to put more pressure on rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the 16-team league table. In the fixture at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, nothing could separate the two sides at the break.
However, a 67th minute set piece resulted from Kenyan shot stopper Brian Bwire fumbling Kabelo Dlamini’s ball into the box, which bounced back off defender Nkosinathi Sibisi and into the goal from close range.
“There’s a lot to fight for, I think as much as we grind the points it doesn’t matter how we grind sometimes it’s gonna be ugly,” he told SuperSport TV as quoted by idiskitimes.
“Sometimes it’s gonna be beautiful at the end of the day we will get three points, and keep on going, you will never know what is gonna happen at the end of the season.
Apart from the league title, Pirates are also in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League and the semis of the Nedbank Cup. The win saw Priates cut Sundowns lead to 12 points.
