Orlando Pirates provide key injury update on Rele Mofokeng

Orlando Pirates have provided an update on the fitness of three important players—star winger Relebohile Mofokeng, Deano van Rooyen, and defender Tapelo Xoki—as they prepare for a crucial Betway Premiership match against Polokwane City FC on Wednesday night at Orlando Stadium.

The Buccaneers are looking to bounce back swiftly after a disappointing 3-0 first-leg loss to Saint-Eloi Lupopo in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round over the weekend.

Rele Mofokeng’s Status Confirmed By Orlando Pirates

The focus remains on Relebohile Mofokeng, the highly-rated 20-year-old whose recent form was central to Pirates’ impressive 11-match unbeaten run across all competitions. Mofokeng missed the trip to the DRC after sustaining an injury just before the recent FIFA international break, which also ruled him out of the Bafana Bafana World Cup qualifiers.

According to a statement from the club, Mofokeng is likely to miss the home encounter against Polokwane City as he continues to recover from the injury.

Van Rooyen and Xoki Still Sidelined

The Sea Robbers also confirmed that two other players will remain unavailable for the midweek league fixture:

Deano van Rooyen is still out with an injury, having missed the past few weeks of action.

Tapelo Xoki remains on the sidelines after being injured in an accident involving other club staff last month.

A win against Rise and Shine would be vital for Pirates, as it would allow them to solidify their position in third place and create distance from the five teams currently tied on 15 points.
