A trio of players, including striker Evidence Makgopa, are doubtful for Orlando Pirates' final Betway Premiership match against Magesi FC on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers confirmed that Makgopa is doubtful for the game alongside midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula and defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi due to injuries.

Mbokani limped off after picking up a knock last weekend during a game against AmaZulu. His availability, including that of Makhaula and Mbokazi, is not guaranteed. However, there is some good news for interim coach Mandla Ncikazi’s side as right-back Bandile Shandu has returned to full training, making him available for selection.

The 30-year-old defender missed last weekend’s game due to yellow card accumulation. Pirates secured second place on the log table and with it CAF Champions League football for next season. The Soweto giants want to reduce the gap from champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a 13-point cushion.

Magesi have proved to be tough customers for Pirates, with the two teams sharing one win each in the last two meetings this season. Zimbabwean goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze remains the most trusted pair of hands between the sticks for Magesi while striker Wonderboy Makhubu is unavailable due to suspension for the club who secured their top flight status next season following a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants last Saturday.

The game will take place at Orlando Stadium at 7:30pm Southern African time.
