After taking the lead at home on the half hour mark, Luzern allowed the visitors to equalize through a Benie Traoré penalty kick before Julien Duranville gave Basel the lead soon after the hour mark.
Frustration was further compounded for the hosts when an apparent goal was disallowed by VAR soon after, but in the end Die Leuchten had the last laugh.
In the 77th minute, after a cross was cleared to the edge of the Basel penalty area, the Congolese forward collected and cut past a defender before firing a low shot into the goal with his left foot.
His assist was the most impressive, however. Six minutes later, Kabwit swooped in to intercept a loose pass and then crossed for substitute Lars Villiger to head in the match winner. In the 89th minute, the Basel meltdown was complete when more awful defending allowed Kabwit to strike again with his left foot following a scramble in the box.
The member of DR Congo’s squad at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) continues to perform better and better during his first voyage into European club football. He now has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last five league matches.

The 20-year-old is rapidly becoming a fan favorite at the club with his exciting style of play. Kabwit now has 6 goals and 4 assists in 17 matches this season and Luzern do have an option to purchase the dynamic attacker on a permanent basis.
FCL are now in 7th place on the 12-team table and will face league leaders FC Thun next Saturday.
