‘Osimhen contract doesn’t have exit clause’ – says Galatasaray boss

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbe has clearly stated that Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen may have to stay for a longer period without leaving the Turkish club because of the contract he signed after joining them.

Osimhen, who spent the previous season on loan with the Super Lig side, signed a four-year contract reportedly worth €75m, with a 10% sell-on clause also inserted into the deal.

He has gone ahead to cement his place as one of the top strikers for the team. Last Wednesday, he scored a brace as Galatasaray defeated Bodø/Glimt 3-1 at RAMS Park in the UEFA Champions League fixture.

Osimhen will serve Galatasaray for many years

“Osimhen’s contract does not have an exit clause. He is extremely successful and will serve Galatasaray for many years,” the 76-year-old said in quotes revealed by Fanatik as quoted by The Punch.

“It may be said that the amount we transferred (to Napoli) was high, but today the price of the football public service is low and the player’s value is much higher.

“Every footballer’s contract we make is very transparent. Contracts in accordance with the rules of TFF and UEFA. Our values that suit Galatasaray and our march to success will continue unchanged.”

Speaking after Osimhen’s double in the Europa League, club’s vice-president, Abdullah Kavukçu said: “There are players in the world worth €140m, but Osimhen is more talked about. They put in a bid much higher than ours in Naples, you can confirm.

“There’s been a lot of talk, we got it in the final. We had money like that, we got it! Galatasaray is a very big community.

“He’s worth it, and it’s been done. It’s not right to talk about this right now! We’ve seen what he’s doing in a game in the Champions League. We’re so happy he’s with us.”

Osimhen has now three Champions League goals this campaign from two matches.

The Turkish giants will return to domestic play on Sunday with a home match against Göztepe. Their return to continental action is on November 5 when they travel to face Ajax.
