Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has urged Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen to consider playing in the Premier League before he ends his career.
With England clubs led by Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United, being linked to the Super Eagle in every transfer window, Leboeuf believes the Galatasaray forward deserves to play in of the best leagues in the world.
Osimhen is currently turning out for the Turkish giants after he made a permanent transfer move to the club from Serie A outfit Napoli. He signed a four-year contract with Galatasaray on July 31, with a net transfer fee of €75 million paid to his former club Napoli.
This made Osimhen the player with the highest transfer fee in Turkish football history.
Speaking on ESPN FC, Leboeuf said: “I would love to see Osimhen one day in the Premier League or La Liga.”
He added: “With all due respect to the Super Lig, Osimhen deserves to play in the best league in the world, so the Premier League would be great.”
Osimhen became the first foreigner, and the second overall Galatasaray player (after Burak Yılmaz) to score a hat-trick in the Champions League after netting three goals against Ajax in a 3-0 away victory.
The achievement allowed him to overtake Obafemi Martins as Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in European competitions and making him the second Nigerian player (after Yakubu) to have scored a hat-trick in the Champions League.
He further became the fastest player in Galatasaray history to reach 50 goals, achieving the milestone in just 59 appearances after scoring in a league match against Fatih Karagmürük, further cementing his status as one of the most prolific forwards ever to wear the club’s colours.
