UCL: Victor Osimhen bags brace of assists as Galatasaray thump Juventus

Victor Osimhen provided a brace of assists as Turkish Süper Lig giants Galatasaray defeated Juventus, 5-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout round play-off at Rams Park on Tuesday.

​The match saw both teams leave everything on the pitch from the first whistle. The hosts took an early lead through Gabriel Sara in the 15th minute, but Teun Koopmeiners found an equalizer just one minute later.

Juventus then took charge heading into the break, with Koopmeiners netting his second in the 32nd minute to put the Italian side in front.

​Galatasaray regained control in the second half. Noa Lang leveled the score just four minutes after the restart before Davinson Sánchez restored the lead for “The Lions” in the 60th minute.

​Osimhen’s impact

​The Nigerian striker then took center stage, setting up Lang for his second goal of the night in the 75th minute. As Galatasaray looked to run away with the game in Istanbul, Juventus’ struggles worsened when they were reduced to 10 men in the 67th minute.

​Osimhen capped off a brilliant performance by setting up Sacha Boey in the 86th minute to seal the 5-2 victory. This win gives the Turkish giants a significant advantage as they look to secure a spot in the Champions League Round of 16.
