Ghana Football Federation (GFA) have confirmed the decision to part ways with head coach Otto Addo following their 2-1 friendly defeat against Germany at the MHP Arena (formerly known as the Mercedes-Benz Arena) in Stuttgart, on Monday.
The defeat against Germany came after the Black Stars were battered 5-1 against Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium last Friday.
In a statement, Ghana FA confirmed: “The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo effective immediately.

“The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
“The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.”
Ahead of the Germany game, the 50-year-old admitted his job is “always under threat” regardless of the situation.
He said: “Even when we qualified for the World Cup, people were calling for me to step down. So, [my job] is always under threat, but I don’t really care.
“For me, the most important thing is that I prepare my best for the team to the best,” he added.
In December 2013, Addo was appointed as the head scout of the Ghana national football team prior to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, succeeding Ibrahim Tanko following the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
At the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament, Ghana went on to lose their first match against Portugal by 3-2, however they won their second group game against South Korea by 3-2.
Addo became the first Ghanaian to play for and coach the Ghana national team at the FIFA World Cup. That victory also made Addo the first Ghanaian coach to win a match at the FIFA World Cup. Five days later, Ghana lost to Uruguay and were eliminated from the tournament at the group stages.
He won eight matches and lost nine in 22 games in charge.
