Malawi senior national football team coach Kalisto Pasuwa has named a 25-member squad for a friendly against Botswana on July 6 2025, where they will aim to end their four-match winless run.

The Zimbabwean has kept most of the players from the Flames squad that struggled at the 2025 COSAFA Cup in South Africa, where they exited the group stage without scoring a goal.

The gaffer has recalled midfielder Lloyd Aaron after excluding him from the COSAFA Cup, to give up-and-coming players an opportunity. The Malawians lost 1-0 to Lesotho and Angola, before sharing the spoils with Namibia.

Now, Pasuwa hopes to restore some dignity to the team when hosting the Zebras at Bingu National Stadium. The game will be part of Malawi’s 61st Independence Day celebrations.

The Flames will regroup in Lilongwe on Thursday July 3, to begin preparations. The game will serve as preparation for the forthcoming assignments, including the World Cup qualifiers.
