Paul Onuachu’s brace helped Trabzonspor secure all three points in a Turkish Super Lig thriller as they edged Fatih Karagümrük 4-3 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium on Saturday.
The striker’s superb first half performance away from home was instrumental in setting the pace for the Black Sea Storm in an open, end-to-end contest.
Felipe Augusto broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 19th minute before Tiago Çukur equalized for Fatih Karagümrük. Onuachu opened his personal account in the 35th minute, exhibiting clinical movement and finishing by converting an assist from Wagner Pina to put Trabzonspor ahead once more.
The 31-year-old later doubled up for the day just before the halftime break, calmly finding the back of the net from the penalty spot and sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to extend the lead.
Trabzonspor thought the game was over with a comfortable thrashing when Danylo Sikan scored the fourth goal, but the hosts put two rapid goals through young Ivorian David Datro Fofana in the 91st and 92nd minutes to give the score line a respectable ending.
With his brace today, Onuachu’s Super Lig stats for the 2025-2026 season now stand at 5 goals and 0 assists in 7 appearances.
Meanwhile, Trabzonspor are currently second on the Turkish Super Lig log with 14 points while Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray are solid in first place with 21 points.
