Qatar SC have officially announced the departure of four African players following the end of the 2024–25 season.
The club bid farewell to South African winger Percy Tau, Congolese striker Ben Malango, Egyptian attacker Ahmed Abdelkader, and Moroccan defender Badr Benoun, all of whom are now free agents.
The club extended its gratitude to the quartet for their contributions and confirmed that their contracts would not be renewed. Among the four, Badr Benoun has already secured his next move, returning to Raja Casablanca in his native Morocco.
Percy Tau Leaves Qatar SC After Short Spell
South African international Percy Tau, who joined Qatar SC from Al Ahly in January 2025, struggled to make a major impact in his short stint.
The 31-year-old attacker featured in 9 Qatar Stars League matches and 1 Emir Cup game, providing 4 assists but failing to score. The club opted not to renew his contract for another season.
Ben Malango's Three-Year Stay Comes to an End
Congolese striker Ben Malango, who signed for Qatar SC in September 2022, was a regular name on the team sheet. In the 2024–25 season, the forward made 26 appearances, scoring 5 goals and registering 1 assist. Despite his contributions, the club decided to part ways with the 31-year-old.
Ahmed Abdelkader Fails to Convert Loan to Permanent Transfer
Egyptian winger Ahmed Abdelkader joined Qatar SC on loan from Al Ahly at the beginning of the season.
The 26-year-old featured in 17 matches, scoring 6 goals and delivering 1 assist during the 2024–25 campaign. Despite his statistics, his stay in Qatar comes to an end.
