South Africa national team forward Percy Tau has reacted to his transfer to Vietnamese league champions, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC. He has sealed a one-year contract.
Perhaps what has stunned football fans on social media platform X, formerly twitter, is that the Bafana Bafana star has tweeted in Vietnamese.
“Xin chào Thép Xanh Nam Định – ngôi nhà mới của tôi. Sẵn sàng chinh phục những thử thách mới,” Tau tweeted on his official handle.

The translated version of his tweet reads: “Hello Green Steel Nam Dinh-my new home. Ready to conquer new challenges.”
Some fans reacted to the tweet by asking the player, who is fondly called Lion of Judah, to translate his comment.
Nam Dinh have since praised the qualities of the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player, saying he “possesses “magical” dribbling skills.”
The Vietnamese champions described the 32-year-old as a perfect fit for the club, as it pursues “a fiery attacking style of play. And the presence of Percy Tau promises to bring more explosive scoring moments to the team.”
The Bafana Bafana star’s move to Dinh makes it his ninth club in his professional football career.
Tau made a name at Sundowns with whom he won multiple silverware before securing a dream transfer to Brighton and Hove Albion in 2018. His PSL career included a spell with Witbank Spurs.
The former PSL player of the year hardly featured for the Premier League team in competitive games and he was dispatched to Belgium for loan spells at Club Brugge, Union SG and Anderlecht.
The South African returned from Europe to sign for Al Ahly in Egypt in 2022, winning with them the CAF Champions League and a horde of local and international cups.
Tau, who boasts 52 caps and 16 goals in Bafana Bafana’s colours, has the company of compatriot Njabulo Blom at Nam Dinh.
