Portuguese coach José Peseiro, the newly appointed head coach of Zamalek SC, expressed his happiness at taking charge of the Cairo giants and reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions.
Zamalek officially announced yesterday that Peseiro has signed a contract extending until the end of the 2025-26 season.
In statements to Zamalek’s media center, the Portuguese coach said:
"Zamalek is a very big club in Egypt and Africa, and I have come here to win many championships and titles with the team."
He continued:
"This is the first time that Zamalek has negotiated with me, and I came because I believe that we can achieve the best for the team. I know Zamalek’s history in Egypt and Africa and the number of titles it has won. I hope to help the club win trophies, and I also hope that the team will help me in achieving titles."
Speaking about his relationships, Peseiro said:
"My relationship with José Mourinho is strong. He is my friend, just like José Gomes and Rui Vitória. He always congratulates me whenever I take on a new position and wishes me success. I hope to follow in the footsteps of the Portuguese coaches who have achieved success with Zamalek, such as Jesualdo Ferreira and José Gomes."
Regarding his ambitions, Peseiro said:
"My aspirations with Zamalek are to win titles, play good football, develop the players, and give my maximum effort for the fans. I have come here to give my all in order to bring happiness to the fans, and I hope they will continuously support the team."
