Just when it appeared a matter of ‘when’, a prestigious award has eluded Mamelodi Sundowns’ sensational goal-poacher Peter Shalulile back home in Namibia.
The Brave Warriors striker was nominated for the Professional Shining Star in the Diaspora award category of the annual 2025 Namibia Sports Awards (NASA).
The former Highlands Park man earned the nomination alongside Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto and cyclist Vera Looser.
The duo’s nomination was well-deserved, as they continue to excel in the PSL this season. Hotto, a two-time NASA award winner, helped the Buccaneers retain the MTN8 title after outsmarting Stellenbosch FC 3-0 in the final played in September.
The winger continues to command his place in the starting XI for Pirates, who remain in the conversation for the Betway Premiership title contenders.
Congratulations, Peter Shalulile!
Namibia celebrates with you on becoming the Premier Soccer League’s all-time top goal scorer with 130 goals. This remarkable milestone is a shining example of what hard work, discipline, and determination can achieve.

On the other hand, Shalulile scaled new heights this season, scoring his 130th goal in September to become the PSL’s all-time leading scorer and break a record Siyabonga Nomvethe had kept for many years. The 32-year-old has since reached 134 PSL goals.
However, during the awards gala held at the Ongediva Trade Fair on Saturday, it was the Switzerland-based Looser who outsmarted the PSL duo to seize the diaspora accolade. The PSL stars did not attend the ceremony.
According to the awards manual, the diaspora category recognises an athlete, coach, umpire/referee or technical official (but not administrators) with exceptional performance during the qualifying period.
