Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Lebohang Mokoena has urged the club to get over their CAF Champions League elimination.

The Buccaneers suffered a painful exit at the semifinal stage of the continental football showpiece after they lost 3-2 at the 30th June Stadium to Egyptian club Pyramids FC.

Mokoena says they should use their game against Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening to uplift the mood ahead of the Soweto derby.

"I think it's going to be a challenge, but they need to get over that defeat as soon as possible because they still have the league and Nedbank Cup titles to play for,” Mokoena told SABC.

"I think the psychological aspect is very important. They just need to get over this loss and refocus on the remaining matches. The derby is just going to make up for everything because at the end of the day, the Orlando Pirates fans don't want to see their team lose against Kaizer Chiefs."

"Every game is going to be important, not just the derby, but I think the derby will be a great gesture to the fans," explained Mokoena.

Orlando Pirates have posted impressive performances in the Betway Premier League this season, sitting second on the table with 46 points behind Sundowns on 55 from their 20 games. The Bucs have two games in hand on Sundowns.

Outgoing manager Jose Riveiro will look to lead them to lift the Nedbank Cup when they face staunch rivals Kaizer Chiefs on May 10.
