Orlando Pirates are gearing up for the 2025/26 campaign with a challenging pre-season schedule in Spain, including a confirmed match against Cypriot First Division champions Pafos FC on July 13.
This will be the Buccaneers’ second announced friendly in Spain, following the recent confirmation of a fixture against English League One side Bolton Wanderers.
Pafos FC, who competed in the UEFA Conference League last season, revealed their upcoming match list with Pirates set to hold their pre-season training camp for the third consecutive year at Marbella Football Centre.
While the club’s first pre-season in Spain notably preceded an early exit from the CAF Champions League, their subsequent elite preparations proved fruitful last season with a run to the continental competition’s semi-finals. This year, the Buccaneers will be looking to justify their significant investments in squad development by making a strong push for the Premier Soccer League title.
Pirates are set to begin their Spain camp on July 6, with fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the remaining pre-season fixtures. Another point of keen interest for supporters is the identity of the new head coach, who is expected to be named imminently to succeed Jose Riveiro.
Pafos FC’s recent accolades include being crowned Cypriot First Division winners last season, securing their spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League, and winning the Cypriot Cup the season prior.
