Pitso Mosimane responds to reports claiming he set a specific condition for Al Ahly return

South African head coach Pitso Mosimane has responded to reports claiming he set conditions for a possible return to the Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

A quote circulating on social media suggested Mosimane had said: “I will only return to Al Ahly when people there accept that football involves three things: winning, losing, and drawing. I am not ready to coach a team that cannot accept the possibility of defeat.”

The South African tactician responded by quoting the report from Central News on his X account, writing simply: “Fake news.”

Al Ahly recently parted ways with Spanish coach Jose Riveiro after a disappointing spell, appointing Emad El-Nahhas as interim manager until a foreign replacement is named.

Pitso Mosimane previously coached Al Ahly between 2020 and 2022, leading the club to remarkable success. He claimed five trophies during his tenure with Al Ahly: two CAF Champions League titles, two CAF Super Cups, one Egypt Cup, and the Egyptian Premier League title in 2020. He also steered the Red Devils to two consecutive FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals.

Overall, Mosimane guided Al Ahly in 102 official matches, winning 65, drawing 26, and losing only 11. He departed in June 2022 after Al Ahly lost the CAF Champions League final to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.
