Ghana midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has said that playing alongside big names like Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus and other players has given him many great lessons moving forward in his career.

Agyekum made his debut for Ghana on 21 March 2025 as a late second-half substitute during a 5–0 win against Chad during 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification at the Accra Sports Stadium. He scored his first goal for Ghana on 31 May 2025 during the 2025 Unity Cup third-place playoff, which Ghana won 4–0 against Trinidad and Tobago.

The 21-year-old, who joined Belgium club Cercle Brugge from Austria outfit Red Bull Salzburg ahead of a successful 2024-25 season in his club career, spoke to GTV Sports Plus.

“It’s good to play with great players. There is a lot that you have to learn from them. Thomas Partey is one of the greatest players, the way he plays, his composure, his intelligence, his vision is on a different level.

“I had to watch and learn, I had to humble myself just like a servant so I can learn from him [Thomas Parety] and others.”.

Agyekum started his career with Ghana based WAFA before transferring to Red Bull Salzburg. He had a loan spell at FC Liefering and Cercle Brugge before making the move to the Jupiler Pro League side permanent.

He made 42 appearances in all competitions with 3 goals and 2 assists as Cercle Brugge finished 13th on the league table with 32 points before escaping relegation with a playoff victory over second tier side Patro Eisden.
