Police FC strengthens squad with Charles Bbaale and Deus Bukenya ahead of new UPL season

Police FC have boosted their squad ahead of the upcoming Uganda Premier League season with the signings of striker Charles Bbaale and midfielder Deus Bukenya, both on two-year contracts.

Bbaale returns to the Uganda Premier League after spells in Rwanda and Kenya, most recently spending five months at Kenyan giants Gor Mahia.

He previously featured for Rayon Sports following a stellar season with SC Villa, where he scored 12 goals and came close to guiding the Jogoos to the 2023 UPL title. Rising to prominence from the Masaza Cup with Gomba in 2021, Bbaale has become one of the Cops’ marquee signings.

Bukenya joins from Tanzania’s Kagera Suga

Deus Bukenya joins from Tanzania’s Kagera Sugar, where he spent the last two seasons. A two-time UPL winner with Vipers in 2015 and 2018, Bukenya primarily operates as a defensive midfielder but can also play as a right back. He is expected to replace Timothy Muwanguzi, who recently left for NEC FC.

Bbaale and Bukenya join a growing list of Police FC reinforcements, including left-back Richard Matovu (from Vipers), Stephen Namaisi, Benon Tahomera, Saidi Kyeyune, and Lawrence Tezikya.

The club has also renewed contracts for Brian James Obedi, Emmanuel Mugume, and goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga.

Under the guidance of coach Matia Lule, Police FC will host their league games at Kiira Road Police Arena in Kamwokya, with hopes that the new signings will push the team higher in the upcoming season.
