Ghana women’s team captain Portia Boakye joins TP Mazembe

Ghana women’s national team captain Portia Boakye has taken another step in her career following her move to African and Congolese powerhouse TP Mazembe.

The experienced centre-back joined the African giants after the expiration of her contract with Israeli side Hapoel Petah Tikva. The 36-year-old has already been included in Mazembe’s squad for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of nations bronze medalist is expected to help Mazembe successfully defend their CAF Women’s Champions League trophy in Egypt.

Boakye started her career with Fabulous Ladies in Ghana before having stints at Ostersunds DFF and Djurgarden of Sweden. She joins compatriot Thelma Baffour on the roster of TP Mazembe.

TP Mazembe Women will begin their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a game against ASEC Mimosas on Sunday, November 9. They will also face Gaborone United Ladies and JKT Queens in Group B.
