Porto coach Francesco Farioli backs Moffi after striker endures jeers

Porto manager Francesco Farioli believes that striker Terem Moffi is “on the right track,” despite the Nigerian being booed by fans during the team’s 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Nigerian international had several key chances to score, most notably a header directed straight at the goalkeeper late in the first half. Despite his consistent involvement in the attack, a portion of the home crowd jeered Moffi when he was substituted in the 60th minute of the quarterfinal first leg match.

Porto coach calls for unity

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Portuguese Primeira Liga clash against Estoril Praia, Farioli praised Moffi’s overall impact and insisted that more goals are on the horizon for the forward.

“In the match against Nottingham, there was a moment of some frustration, but he’s trying his best, working hard in recent months. He’s on the right track, he’s already scored important goals for us and more will come.

The frustration and emotion of the moment must remain in that moment; (we) must be united and undoubtedly support the team, showing that all the players are focused on what’s best for the club.”
