Premier League: Beto scores as Everton stun Newcastle United, Mejbri with two assists for Burnley

Guinea-Bissau international Beto struck his third goal of the 2025/26 Premier League season as Everton. stunned Newcastle United F.C. 3–2 at St James’ Park. Beto started the away tie after missing five league games.

It was a difficult away fixture for the Toffees, but they managed to nick a late goal to take home maximum points. Beto scored from a rebound in the 34th minute to make it 2–1 after Dwight McNeil’s goal-bound strike was saved by Nick Pope. The striker almost doubled the lead in the second half after a fantastic run, but he was denied by the crossbar.

The visitors took the lead through Jarrad Branthwaite before Newcastle equalized with a goal from Jacob Ramsey. Beto made way for Thierno Barry in the 74th minute, with the Frenchman getting the third goal in the 83rd minute. The Blues are now 8th with 40 points.

Beto has now amassed three goals in league action this season. Barry’s arrival at the Merseyside club limited the powerful striker’s playing time, with Beto’s scoring form from last season drastically declining.

Elsewhere, Tunisian international Hannibal Mejbri assisted twice in the second half for Burnley F.C. in their 4–3 home defeat to Brentford. Burkina Faso winger Dango Ouattara also assisted for the London club in the first half.
