Fulham FC's hopes of European football next season were all but extinguished after falling to London rivals Chelsea by a 1-2 score despite Alex Iwobi's first half strike.

Ryan Sessegnon set up the Nigeria national team star for a low finish with his left foot in the 20th minute and hosts Fulham had a 1-0 halftime lead. However, the Cottagers failed to create much else for the remainder of the match.

Chelsea made a late push and youth academy product Tyrique George equalized in the 83rd minute. Things went from bad to worse for Fulham after Pedro Neto won it for the Blues in the third minute of second half stoppage time.

With only five matches remaining, Fulham are now nine points out of a top-7 seven position in 9th place, with Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa looking out of reach at this point.

Fulham have a good opportunity to gain three points next Saturday when they travel to face last place Southampton. Iwobi now has 9 goals and 5 assists in 39 matches across all competitions.
