Premier League: Sarr and Crystal Palace pounce on 10-man Tottenham

Ismaïla Sarr scored twice and Jørgen Strand Larsen added another goal to complete a perfect end to the first half in Crystal Palace’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.

It appeared that Palace were in for a tough evening after Dominic Solanke opened the scoring for Spurs in the 34th minute. However, the hosts completely collapsed after Micky Van de Ven was issued a red card four minutes later when the Dutchman denied a clear goal scoring opportunity by dragging down Sarr in the penalty area.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations champion made no mistake when he was handed an opportunity to equalize. The winger calmly sent goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario the wrong way while slotting away his spot kick.

An extended period of stoppage time only brought more agony to the home supporters. Larsen put the visitors ahead in the opening minute of time added on from an assist by Arthur Wharton before Wharton provided a stunning pass to unlock the Spurs defense and find Sarr, who snuck his finish past an onrushing Vicario.

Spurs produced a decent effort after halftime but their numerical disadvantage was too much to overcome. Palace move up to 13th place on the table while Tottenham’s miserable campaign continues in 16th place, only one point out of the relegation zone.
