Hearts of Oak coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani remains positive about his team’s performance despite losing to the 2025 President’s Cup to rivals, Asante Kotoko on Sunday July 6 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Two quick goals in two minutes – Konadu Yiadom’s header into his own post plus Kwame Opoku’s close range nudge, canceled out Hamza Issah’s first half opener for the Phobians. The defeat was coach Didi Dramani’s first major assignment since replacing Ivorian trainer, Aboubakar Ouatarra in June.
Notwithstanding the painful loss to the arch rivals, the former Ghana assistant coach picked some positives from the game. “It’s part of the industry. At a time we were controlling, we lost a key player [Osei Asibey]. They took a chance, and so we have to acknowledge that. We are in a progressive process.
“I’m very impressed with the composition and execution. There is a lot we have done, but there is a lot we have to put in. I believe we will get there with some adjustments. We love the fans so much. We want to see more of this,” he told the media.
The victory lifted Asante Kotoko to their ninth title with Hearts of Oak remaining on six trophies. Hearts of Oak will now travel to Nigeria to play in the 2025 Eko International Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors’ next assignment is the “Champion of Champions” against league winners Bibiani Gold Stars before shifting attention to their international friendly against Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in South Africa.
