Nigeria president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to host newly crowned Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The reception is expected to take place before the commencement of the 2025/26 NPFL season. This plan was revealed by renowned NPFL journalist Ojeikere Aikhoje via X.
Speaking on President Tinubu's plan for Remo Stars, Aikhoje confirmed that the champions will have the opportunity to be in the Villa as regards to memo sent in December.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to host #NPFL25 champions, Remo Stars, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. A memo requesting photo opportunities and handshakes for domestic league winners was sent to the President as far back as December 2024.”
Remo Stars, also known as the Sky Blue Stars, clinched the 2024/25 NPFL title last month, marking a historic achievement for the Ikenne-based club.
They became the first club from Ogun State to win the NPFL title since the state's creation in 1976 and are also the first privately-owned team to lift the NPFL trophy in over two decades, with the last being Julius Berger in 2000.
