18-year-old Ghanaian forward Prince Amoako is showing all the right signs early in his professional career. The latest Right to Dream Academy graduate to make the move to affiliate club FC Nordsjaelland provided a goal and an assist on his pro debut as Nordsjaelland began their 2025-26 Superliga campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over FC Fredericia.
It was an electric start to the game for both teams. Hosts Fredericia, newly promoted to the top flight, exploited sloppy defending from Nordsjaelland to take the lead inside the opening minute when Ugandan-born winger Moses Opondo stole the ball then crossed for Gustav Marcussen to finish.
But the response was rapid from the visitors and their equalizer came from a Ghanaian duo. Caleb Yirenkyi’s excellent lofted pass from midfield found the run of Amoako and the young forward’s first touch was perfect to put him in position to finish past onrushing Fredericia goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri before the match had hit the five minute mark.
Nordsjaelland’s focus on youth was on full display for the goal that put them ahead in the 15th minute. Fierce high pressing overwhelmed Fredericia as they attempted to play out of the back and Amoako pounced on a loose ball to poke his pass over to Sindre Egeli, who was left with a simple finish to put the visitors ahead.
Veteran fullback Peter Ankersen put Nordsjaelland up two goals close to halftime. A strong second half from Fredericia saw them come close to snatching a point but after Patrick Egelund pulled a goal back in the 85th minute, it was too little too late for the hosts to avoid defeat.
Amoako officially joined Nordsjaelland in late February. After struggling with injuries at the start, he benefited from a full preseason with the club before Sunday’s debut.
