Egyptian forward Amr Nasser, former Pharco and current Zamalek player, has been named among the 11 nominees for the 2025 FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal of the year.

Nasser earned his nomination thanks to a spectacular bicycle kick against Al Ahly while playing for Pharco during the Egyptian Capital Cup last season. His goal is the only African goal on the shortlist, effectively making him the frontrunner for Africa’s best goal of 2025.

The Puskas Award race will be tough, with other nominees including Declan Rice of Arsenal, who scored a stunning free-kick against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, who netted a long-range strike in the Catalan derby against Espanyol.
