Pyramids stun Al Ahly in Nile League clash

Pyramids FC claimed an important win in the headline fixture of Matchday 5 in the Nile Egyptian League, defeating hosts Al Ahly 2-0 at Al Salam Stadium.

The visitors struck early through Moroccan midfielder Walid El Karti, who reacted quickest to a rebound in the fifth minute after Karim Hafez’s free-kick cannoned off the post.

Al Ahly pushed for an equalizer, with Mohamed Sherif coming close, but Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy pulled off a fine save to keep his side ahead.

In the second half, El Karti doubled his tally, heading home in the 68th minute, effectively sealing the contest for Pyramids.

The Red Devils struggled to find a breakthrough for the remainder of the game, leaving frustrated fans to witness another disappointing display. The defeat continues Al Ahly’s shaky start to the campaign, with just one win, two draws, and a loss from their opening four matches.

For Pyramids, the CAF Champions League title holder, the victory marked their second of the season, alongside two draws and a single defeat, lifting them to eight points and third place in the table.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly remain stuck on five points, sitting 12th, as pressure mounts on Spanish coach Jose Rivero, whose future could come under scrutiny following this poor run of form.
