Pyramids FC were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw against El Gouna on Wednesday, in a Nile Egyptian League clash played at the Air Defense Stadium as part of Round 16 of the competition.
El Gouna took the lead in the 37th minute through Ahmed Abd Allah. The forward initially saw his penalty strike the post, but he reacted quickly to follow up the rebound and fire the ball into the net.
Pyramids responded just before halftime, as Mostafa Ziko scored the equalizer in the first minute of added time (45+1), heading home a cross from inside the penalty area to restore parity for the hosts.
This draw marks Pyramids’ second consecutive league stalemate, having previously drawn 2–2 against Petrojet. Earlier, they had secured a 2–1 victory over Ismailia Electricity in Round 8.
With this result, Pyramids moved up to 28 points, remaining second in the league standings after playing 13 matches. El Gouna sit 10th with 19 points.
Also on the same day, league leaders Ceramica Cleopatra suffered a 3–2 defeat against Al Masry, adding more intensity to the title race.
