Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurcic has voiced his strong disapproval over the kickoff time for his side’s opening match in the 2025/2026 Nile Egyptian League, scheduled against Wadi Degla.
The Croatian tactician, who recently guided Pyramids FC to their first-ever CAF Champions League title, expressed frustration at the decision to play the game at 5 PM, despite Egypt currently enduring soaring temperatures exceeding 45°C (113°F).
Jurčić described the decision as dangerous, stating:
“I’m truly surprised by this kickoff time. Everyone knows the weather temperature exceeds 45°C these days. Playing in such deadly temperatures is a serious risk for players and technical staffs.”
He added that this issue is beyond football or competition:
“This isn’t about competition. It’s about health. We are asking for a reaction from all officials, especially the Minister of Sports. This needs to be reconsidered.”
The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association officially held the draw for the upcoming Nile Egyptian League season today in 6th of October City, confirming the league’s format and participating teams.
The dates and times for Matchweek 1 only has been released so far, with Pyramids FC set to face Wadi Degla at Al Salam Stadium in the curtain-raiser of the new campaign.
