Pyramids FC executive complains about preferential treatment after request is ignored

Pyramids FC assistant sporting director Moatassem Salem voiced criticism at the Nile Egyptian League authorities for ignoring the club’s request to postpone their final matchday clash against Ceramica Cleopatra.
The match is scheduled to take place between the two legs of the CAF Champions League final against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
"How can we deal with a league board that does not give equal consideration to the clubs, does not support us, and even hinders us from fulfilling our national mission as the representative of Egyptian football in the Champions League final?", Salem said.
He added that Pyramids had formally submitted a request to postpone the decisive league fixture, which falls between the first leg in South Africa and the return leg in Cairo, but had heard nothing back.
"What is the issue between Egyptian football and Pyramids FC to be denied its right to postpone the match until the two Champions League final matches are over, in order to help its rival register a player on its squad?" Salem asked, alluding to perceived preferential treatment for Al Ahly.
Pyramids is scheduled to face Ceramica Cleopatra in the final round of the Nile League on May 28, four days after their away leg against Sundowns and same period before the return leg in Cairo on June 1.
Salem continued:
"Why insist on making Pyramids play Ceramica on May 28 despite our domestic and continental commitments, while the rival team — Al Ahly — can finish their matches on schedule without any commitments to Pyramids FC, so they can prepare for their Club World Cup mission?"
Pyramids currently sit second in the league title phase standings, trailing leaders Al Ahly by just two points heading into the final matchday.
The Ceramica Cleopatra clash could prove decisive in the title race, while the Champions League final against Sundowns is expected to be a highly competitive and demanding encounter.
Pyramids are calling for a rescheduling of the Nile League match due to the critical nature of both domestic and continental fixtures.
