Pyramids confirm injury setbacks for two stars following Intercontinental Cup victory

Pyramids’ head of medical staff, Dr. Mostafa El Monaiery, has explained the reasons behind the absence of Moroccan midfielder Walid El Karti and Egyptian winger Ramadan Sobhi from the Egyptian team’s 3-1 victory over Al Ahli Saudi in the Africa–Asia–Pacific Cup game held at Al Enma Stadium (King Abdullah Sports City) in Jeddah.

El Monaiery revealed that El Karti suffered a muscle strain in his quadriceps during Pyramids’ recent Nile Egyptian League clash against ZED and is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program to prepare for the upcoming stage of the season.

Meanwhile, Ramadan Sobhi is dealing with a knee issue and is also following an individual recovery plan to regain full fitness for the decisive period ahead.

In addition, defender Mahmoud Marei remains sidelined after undergoing knee surgery. He continues his rehabilitation in Cairo as he works toward rejoining the squad in the coming weeks.

Despite these absences, Pyramids — the reigning African champions — showcased their depth by defeating Asian champions Al Ahli Saudi 3-1 to lift the prestigious Africa–Asia–Pacific Cup title.
