Major bombshell! Pyramids player hit with four-year ban after CAS ruling!

Pyramids FC winger Ramadan Sobhi has suffered a major blow after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued a decision on Wednesday evening to suspend him for four years in a doping case that has stretched on for months.

A source told YallaKora that Sobhi has officially been handed a four-year suspension, following the CAS verdict. The player now has one remaining option: to appeal the ruling before the Swiss Federal Court.

The case dates back to 27 May 2024, when the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization (NADO Egypt) announced that Sobhi had been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance.

However, on 17 July 2024, NADO Egypt reversed its position and announced—by majority decision—the following:

  1. No sanction would be imposed on the player.

  2. Immediate lifting of the mandatory provisional suspension.

But the matter did not end there.

On 17 September 2024, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed NADO Egypt’s decision and demanded a four-year suspension for Sobhi. The case subsequently moved to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which has now upheld the four-year ban.

The ruling represents a severe setback for the 28-year-old winger. Sobhi’s camp is expected to begin preparations for the appeal to the Swiss Federal Court, which is the final legal avenue available to challenge the sanction.
