Pyramids prepare quickly for crucial Nile Egyptian league match amid CAF Champions league final

The Pyramids team delegation returned to Cairo this morning from Johannesburg following their first-leg encounter against South African side Sundowns in the CAF Champions League final.

Pyramids secured a crucial 1-1 draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, ahead of the second leg scheduled for June 1st at Air Defense Stadium in Cairo.

Despite the long journey from Pretoria to Johannesburg and then to Cairo, which included a 3-hour transit in the Kenyan capital Nairobi for refueling and a delayed takeoff, totaling nearly 15 hours, Croatian head coach Krunoslav Jurcic refused to grant the players rest and decided to hold training at 7 PM Cairo time today at Air Defense Stadium, in preparation for the upcoming match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the final round of the title-deciding phase of the Nile Egyptian League.

The Egyptian Clubs Association refused to postpone the match, so Pyramids will have to play an important game between the two legs of the CAF Champions League final.

Pyramids currently occupy second place in the Nile Egyptian League standings with 53 points, two points behind league leaders Al Ahly, with only one round remaining. This means the upcoming match could be decisive in determining the league title.
