Radiopane’s insight: What Bafana must fix for COSAFA Cup success

Bafana Bafana striker Boitumelo Radiopane has made a candid admission about the national team’s performance ahead of their 2025 COSAFA Cup semi-final clash against Comoros on Friday.

Despite booking a spot in the semis by topping Group A, Radiopane has expressed frustration over missed opportunities, admitting their path could have been smoother.

Bafana have managed only two goals in three group stage matches despite creating numerous clear-cut chances. However, the young striker is confident that valuable lessons have been learned, and the team is ready to deliver against Comoros.

“We try each and every day to finish the chances we get in training because that’s where the work starts,” Radiopane stated. “I’m happy with the group of players that I’m surrounded with because we all want to reach the same goal, which is to win, and to win, we have to score as many goals as we can.”

Radiopane emphasised the importance of composure and selflessness in front of goal. “All I can say regarding our decision-making in front of the goals is that we need to be calm and not be selfish at some point,” he explained.

“If I’m not in a good position to score, I just have to give it to the next player who is in a better position and to win the game for us. The only way to reward our defence is to score for them because they are doing everything well and everything they can for the opposition not to strike at us.”

South Africa are poised to fight Comoros for a place in the COSAFA Cup final. The stage is set for Friday at 18:00 CAT at the Free State Stadium, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
