After coming to a mutual termination of his contract with Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca, veteran goalkeeper Anas Zniti is off to the Middle East after confirmation of his transfer to Emirati club Al Wasl.
The 36-year-old moves outside of Moroccan domestic football for the first time after nearly ten years with Raja where he experienced plenty of success. Zniti won two top division Botola Pro titles with The Green Eagles as well as two CAF Confederation Cups among other honors. He was also an important part of two African Nations Championship (CHAN) titles with Morocco where he was the primary goalkeeper for the Atlas Lions domestic-based team in 2018 and 2020.
Zniti will step between the sticks for Al Wasl who are currently in 7th place in the UAE Pro League in the midst of a disappointing 2024-25 campaign. The popular club based in Dubai won the 2023-24 title and are now 14 points off the pace of current leaders Al Sharjah.
Zniti joins countryman and defender Soufiane Bouftini at the club as well as former Swiss national team striker Haris Seferovic. Halfway through the current season, Al Wasl will return to league play on January 22 when they host Sharjah.
