South African coach speaks out on reunion with Fadlu Davids

South African Darian Wilken has reacted to his appointment as the first assistant coach to head coach Fadlu Davids at Raja Club Athletic in Morocco.

The former Orlando Pirates trainer has joined the backroom staff of countryman Fadlu Davids who was appointed as the head coach of the Moroccan giants a few days ago.

Wilken has returned to the Botola Pro team after having served in a similar capacity alongside Davids under then head coach Josef Zinnbauer during the 2023-2024 campaign.

Fadlu Davids eventually picked a job at Simba SC in Tanzania and took with him compatriot Wilken.

‘Morocco is very special to me and my family’

Under the tutelage of Zinnbauer, the South African duo won the Botola Pro title and the Throne Cup during the 2023-24 season. In view of such success, Wilken has taken to his x.com account to reflect on what his return to Casablanca means to his career.

“Winning the Botola and lifting the Throne Cup together will forever stay with me as some of the proudest moments of my career. Those memories are written in my heart and in the history of this great club,” he wrote.

“Morocco is very special to me and my family. This country, its culture, and its people have made us feel at home from the very beginning and being part of Raja only deepens that connection. Coming back here is not just professional, it is personal. It feels like returning to a second home.”
