Botswana national team coach Morena Ramoreboli has revealed their readiness to take on the best teams in Africa when they participate in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The South African-born tactician. Who replaced French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa, during the qualifiers, insists they have what it takes to mx it with the best nations in Africa.

Botswana ready to compete against the best in Africa

“We are in a group that includes teams with great experience and competitiveness. We know very well the history of the teams that are with us and we know how they performed in previous AFCONs,” Ramoreboli said as quoted by Flashscore.

“The draw gives us the opportunity to test our strength against the top teams in Africa, and we have no doubts about what we can do or how well we will perform in the competition.

“We have to respect everyone and we know that our mission will not be easy, but we will fight and do our best.

“We need to leave a mark at AFCON 2025. The goal is to perform well, dominate games, and achieve positive results. Success would mean being remembered as one of the teams that competed fiercely and represented Botswana with pride.”

On his message to Botswana fans, the coach said: “The players need your support and confidence, especially since many of them are locally-based and competing against players they used to watch on TV.

“The fans’ positivity during the qualifiers pushed us forward, and we need that same energy as we head to AFCON.”

Botswana will begin their campaign against a Lions of Teranga side led by Sadio Mane at Grand Stade de Tanger on December 23.
