Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Sead Ramovic has praised the resilience of his players after they hammered Fountain Gate 5-0 in a Mainland Premier League fixture on Sunday.
Ivorian midfielder Pacome Zouzoua contributed a hat-trick for the hosts, who have won their last five league matches, conceding only two goals while scoring eighteen during this stretch.
Zouzoua opened the scoring for the reigning champions in the 16th minute with a low finish from a cross by Congolese fullback Chadrack Boka. Mudathir Yahya doubled the lead from a set piece in the 42nd minute and Zouzoua struck again just before halftime, effectively killing off any hopes of a comeback for the visitors.
Yanga added a couple more in the second half. Zouzoua completed his hat-trick before ten minutes elapsed in the second half and young star attacker Clement Mzize added his sixth league goal of the campaign late on.
“I want to praise, the analysis guys, to the doctors, physios, directors of the club, the fans, and of course to the fitness coach for what the good job they are doing to make this team great, the kind of job they are doing is just amazing, they make sure everything is good for the players to deliver the results everyone is seeing now,” Ramovic told Pan-Africa Football.
“The last four games we have played it is not easy to beat teams in this league because they go for a low block, they try to hit us on counter attacks, so we have to press, we have to stay compact, we have to have a good defence and this is what we did.
"All the credit again goes to the players because they did unbelievable great job, I also congratulate the opponent for a fair tough game.”
The win enabled Yanga to close in on rivals Simba as they reached 39 points, one less their rivals, who are sitting at the top of the 16-team league table after accumulating 40.
