Rangers have confirmed that a bid from Greek club AEK Athens for Nigeria national team striker Cyriel Dessers has been rejected because it was far below the valuation for the striker.

This was announced by Rangers manager Russell Martin on Sunday after Rangers’ first pre-season game draw against Club Brugge at Ibrox.
“We turned down a bid a while ago for him that was nowhere near the valuation of the football club, and he’s been great, he’s desperate to train.”
AEK Athens reportedly submitted a bid for Dessers and are still negotiating a transfer fee. Martin praised the striker’s professionalism but disclosed that he is currently nursing an ankle injury.
The Super Eagles striker therefore could only watch Rangers draw 2-2 with Belgian team Club Brugge in a pre-season friendly. Reports claim that the rejected offer is around £4.5 million.
