Ghana forward, Ransford Königsdörffer has opened up his current situation at German side Hamburger SV.
After a failed move to French Ligue 1 club OG Nice, the 24-year-old has undergone a difficult moment in the last few weeks however support from club manager, Merlin Polzin has kept Ransford grounded at the Volksparkstadion.
The former Dynamo Dresden winger was on the score sheet last Saturday in Hamburg’s 2-0 victory at FC Heidenheim.
He faced the media on Tuesday afternoon, where the six time capped Ghana international spoke candidly about his situation at the Red Shorts.
“After the first games, I often went in front of the camera. At some point, I just didn’t feel like it anymore,” he explained his conscious decision to hold back.
“I’ve been hated on before. But honestly, I couldn’t care less. It doesn’t really bother me,” Königsdörffer made clear, without denying that this phase left its mark.
With his contract set to expire in June, it remains to be seen whether Ransford will extend his contract or move abroad.
Ransford Yaboah said: “I’d like to play abroad at some point. But I can also imagine staying here,” the striker informed the media on Tuesday.
However, HSV sporting director Claus Costa has added his voice to the ongoing saga. “We should all let ourselves be surprised. It could go either way.”
Königsdörffer has struggled to cope with the high demands of the German Bundesliga having scored just 2 goals in 20 appearances despite netting 14 times in the run up to HSV’s promotion last season.
