The Hamburger SV attacker earned the late invite to the Black Stars following the withdrawal of Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante through injury.
Thomas-Asante pulled out injured during Coventry City’s 3-0 win over Swansea City in the English Championship last weekend. His place was taken by Josh Eccles in the 62nd minute after picking up the knock.
Iñaki Williams, on the other hand, played the entirety of Athletic Bilbao’s victory over Real Betis on Sunday but subsequent scans revealed he sustained a knock during the match.
Königsdörffer is already in Vienna and is scheduled to train with the squad on Tuesday afternoon.
The 22-year-old has posted some fine form for Hamburger SV where he has scored four goals in 26 appearances in the Bundesliga.
Ghana will play against Austria on Friday March 27 before making a trip to Germany three days later against the former world champions.
The four-time African champion Black Stars have been paired against Panama, Croatia and England in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.
